COURSE OBJECTIVES

  • Teach current techniques of extended sinus surgery.
  • Improve the knowledge in endoscopic approaches to all sinuses and anterior skull base.
  • Provide hands-on sessions on cadaveric specimen and improve skills.
  • Become familiar with endocopic endonasal approaches.
  • Picking up some "pearls" and refinement and some new, less destructive techniques.

  • Surgical anatomy and endoscopic approaches to anterior ethmoid and maxillary sinus (limited to extended and medial maxillectomy)
  • Dancing around the lacrimal system (Pyriform turbinoplasty, Prelacrimal window approach, DCR)
  • Surgical anatomy of posteroid ethmoid and sphenoid sinus: from Onodi and Sternberg to sphenopalatine artery and internal carotid artery

  • Intraoperative navigation: Understanding basics, learning new options
  • Surgical anatomy and approaches to sphenoid sinuses: paraseptal, transethmoidal and superior turbinate bypass (sinusotomy Typ 3)
  • Surgical anatomy and approach to pterygopalatine fossa and Vidian nerve
  • Surgical anatomy and approach to orbit, optic nerv, sella, pituitary and beyond
  • Round table: Bleeding management from SPA, AEA to ICA

  • Endoscopic approaches to anterior ethmoid; the lamella principle
  • Posterior ethmoid and superior turbinate-bypass approaches to sphenoid sinus; the lamella principle
  • SPA-Ligation, exposure of pituitary

  • Surgical landmarks and approach for drill out procedures Anterior ethmoidal and anterior nasal artery; Draf 2b/G4-5 and Typ 3/G6
  • Surgical indication for drill-out procedures (Draf 2b/G4-5 and Draf 3/G6)
  • Indications for frontal sinus with Balloon sinuplasty; EFSS G0
